Drip, splatter and spray it

Art in the Bay student, Caroline Hutchinson, used tooth brush splatter for her wavers in this dynamic sea scape.
Splattering, another technique for the toolbox, is an art technique where paint is applied to the canvas by flicking dripping or throwing it with virtually any tool, paint brushes, toothbrushes, straw blowing, air brushing, balloons or even your naked hands.
It’s a technique used in various art forms, from abstract expressionism to kid-friendly art projects, and can produce a range of effects from fine dots to large splashes. Use the Splattering technique to achieve starry sky’s, ocean spray, falling leaves, snow, and waves.
The technique will add a sense of energy, texture, movement, and atmosphere and it creates an element of spontaneity and unpredictability, anchoring the subject to its background. Have fun as children do, or create masterpieces like Jackson Pollock, either way it will be a creative outlet for your artistic emotion and energy.
